Dogs Have Value Too!

Dogs have been with man for ages, even in Prehistoric times, according to early cave drawings. We think dogs might have been scavengers.At first dogs were used for amusement, but their value as guard dogs were quickly realized.

In ancient Greek Mythology, the entrance to the underworld was guarded by a mythical three-headed dog named Cerberus.

Dogs are used as companions at home and as helpers in the workplace.

Quick fact: Laika, a mixed Siberian Husky, was the first person to orbit the earth in 1957.

Dogs are also used on TV to advertise all kind of different products.

Dogs Vs Wolves?

Many theorists believe the wolf is a direct ancestor of the modern dog. Others say it seems impossible that 400 varieties of dogs descend from just one species.

Here are some of the similarities between the dog and wolf:

-Both bury bones
-Both turn in circles before going to sleep
-Both lift their leg to mark their territory
-Bith frequently howl at the moon
-Both have a gestation period of 63 days-
The birth and development of their young is almost identical
-Both have a Alpha role model

When it comes to our pets, we (their masters) should be the alpha role model.

The newest buzz at the fire hydrant today was that Butch was going into the Vet today to get fixed. He's already a grouch. I hope he's not any grouchier!

I think getting fixed made my brother dumb. My master's are talking about getting me fixed. I don't want to be dumb like my brother!

Dad took me and Mike Jones for a walk. Mike Jones, still showing how dumb he is :-), was chasing the ducks into the water. He really thought he could catch them????? Well, needless to say he ended up almost drowning in the water from chasing them. When will Mike Jones ever learn?

Dog Whisperer

The dog whisperer program that appears on the National Geographic Channel focuses on the ability of overcoming dog behavioral problems.

While the program shows the use of techniques that appear to work there are many people who disagree with the methods and believe that they could be doing long-term damage to the dog's emotional state.

Cesar Millan, the dog whisperer disagrees and proves on many occasions that his techniques help to remove aggression in dogs allowing them to live with one another and not have any problems.

The dog whisperer helps people who have problem dogs by teaching them how to resolve these problems and in some circumstances where the dog is particularly aggressive or has problems that the owners cannot sort out for themselves he will take the dog home with him for a period of time until he is satisfied that the dog's behavioral problems have gone.

The dog whisperer certainly does show on many occasions that he can deliver the results and whether people agree or not there is no doubt about the fact that the dog whisperer does overcome dog behavioral problems.

My brother and I went out in the back yard to play and do..... Anyway, a gopher came into the yard and down in a hole in the ground he went. My dumb brother, Mike Jones, thought that he could make him come out by barking and scratching into the hole. I laughed and laughed at him. It was so funny. You needed to be there! Mike Jones was sticking his nose down into the hole, then he would come up, look into the hole and bark, as if he could make the gopher come out. He kept this up for so long, mom came out to see what all the barking was about. When she saw what my brother was doing, she even started laughing at him. Mike Jones does such dumb things that he is funny, funny, funny!
